Chanakyan principles-India's lesson to control foreign policies with neighboring countries

Chanakyan principles-India's lesson to control

foreign policies with neighbouring countries

CHANAKYA- Indian Economic Visionary
India is definitely the most hospitable as well as a very friendly democratic as well as secularist country in whole world. Our great bonding in form of “Athithi Devo Bhava” meaning welcoming any form of guests is still on high and practised a lot by millions of our people whether being in India or elsewhere in world. However off lately our friendliness attitude as well as polite and soft behaviour against unacceptable provocations, violations, incessant cross border terrorism as well as complete ignorance of mutual pacts, terms and conditions lay down while doing treaty with our neighbours:

·        Pakistan on Northern-western frontiers.
·        Chinese & Bangladeshi intrusion from eastern frontiers.
·        As well as down southern most frontier- Sri Lankan Intrusion.

However as usual India’s silence which actually though is an act to perceive and establish peace with all our neighbouring countries have turned hostile as they think it as their mode of intruding into our country with ease, go on with killing spree of innocent civilians, security personnel’s with their terrorist orgs and outfits, unquestionable old foreign treaties, policies that are just not followed etc have now caused us a big menace coupled with big headache to fight against such issues.

CHANAKYAN Philosophy- SAMA, DAMA, DHANDA, BHEDA
Undeniably here an age old adage comes into my mind that “One’s loss is another one’s gain and vice versa”. It’s also a wakeup call indeed for our political stalwarts to honour world teachings of Chanakya- the visionary author of Arthashastra (Economy) cum political strategist, Swami Vivekananda-pioneer in spreading light of wisdom and even other such visionaries whom India had completely ignored.

The topic encircles round Chanakya’s principles of strategic vision: sama, dama, danda, bheda - reconciliation, inducement, deterrent action and subversion - and the lesser known asana or the strategic art of deliberately sitting on the fence. What Chanakya was able to grasp hundreds of years ago is that foreign relations require an array of instruments, each corresponding to the specific situation on the ground and in conformity with a long-term strategic vision. Pakistan, China, Bangladesh as well as Sri Lanka have truly mastered the teachings of Chanakya wherein India has forgotten it, thanks again to Indian political brass.
Such is the easy going for our neighbours in establishing hold at backdrop that we have suffered a lot in past, but irony and pathetic thing is still no lessons learnt. For illustration: Be it the high profile

CONDOLENCE MEETING AT GROUND TAJ
3.   The highly dastardly 26/11 Mumbai attacks which not just India but whole world witnessed gruesome and bloodshed of millions of innocent civilians cum brave hearts who volunteered to cause of rescuing people to safer places. We announced that we would not engage in substantive negotiations with Pakistan until the perpetrators, whose culpability was beyond doubt, were brought to book. Subsequently, step by step we retreated from this decision. However the very next day media along with Indian bureaucrats simply stemmed into a long silence by stating that “Life of Mumbai and a fellow Mumbaikar is back on tracks just to show we are fighting back”. My direct query is that is the life of an Indian so mean and forgetful? Answer is for us it might not be, but yeah for our political bureaucracy, it’s just a simple ball game.

Chinese Intrusion In Eastern Sector

4.   Intrusion of our eastern borders by Chinese troops recently when a Indo-Chinese pact held that both countries have absolute no rights in intruding in others territory unconditionally and untimely can lead to call of taking serious decisions against pact even terming it “Null and Void” from our end. Next it also states that if China wages a war like situation, even Indian government has freedom to call it to intrude their territories. However as usual on both stances nothing has been done by Indian bureaucrats.

CHINESE INTRUSION IN INDIA
5.   Even our Indian political system is so faithful, loyal, friendly with smaller nations like that of Sri Lanka which was undergoing a turmoil when LTTE waged war in their own country, India sent hoard of military contingent in Jaffna and Colombo to protect them from crisis like situation. However the then Sri Lankan PM Mahinda Rajapaksa even didn't budge when intruders started claiming Indian state of Tamil Nadu their own and formation of separatist state in Tamil Nadu.
6.    Even Bangladesh have joined the bandwagon group of spreading cross border terrorism with India in east and have now occupied a large part of Indian state of WB (West Bengal) and have even uncannily called it their land. At one front the seven sister states comprising of West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Sikkim and Meghalaya all are already confronting mounting issues like separatist states like Bodo, Naga and other militant outfits as well as Chinese and Bangladeshi intrusion, so much so that in years to come China and Bangladeshi government have even announced that these states are part of their respective countries.
Well friends aren't this just startling? Yeah they are. But repeated such inhumane, unfriendly acts have been ignored by our politicians completely. We all know they don’t have minds to think and act. Otherwise if they had we Indian citizens would feel much safer.
Time has definitely come to follow footsteps of Chanakya and other people to device a combined economic, political as well as strong foreign policy based on the Chanakyan stratagems. Last but not the least if our leaders don’t realize potentiality of “Now VS Never”, our silence which has been taken not as token of non-violence and peace, but as our meek surrender to all types of cross border issues. So it’s time to break off this silence and device cerebral and holistic, stringent more importantly effective foreign policy.
